Macro and Fiscal Affairs Department
Macro & Fiscal Affairs Department is responsible for providing strategic support for overall management of the economy and public finances through formulation, review, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of macro-economic and fiscal policies in the country.
The Department derives its core functions and responsibilities from the mandate of the National Treasury, some of which include:
- Generation of macroeconomic projections for use in planning and budgeting.
- Formulation, analysis and review of economic (National and Sectoral) and financial management policies, guidelines and strategies and ensure that they have been implemented.
- Facilitate fulfillment of the Constitutional principles of fiscal responsibility in line with Article 201 of the Constitution and Section 15 of PFM Act; and
- Development, review and negotiation of regional macro-economic and fiscal policies.
